Quartet of ICGC projects launched in China
January 2013
SHARING OPTIONS:

TORONTO—The International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) has announced four new projects in China to identify genomic drivers in colorectal, liver, esophageal and nasopharyngeal cancers. China is one of the founding members of the ICGC, which spearheads global efforts to map common and rare cancer genomes. Studies such as these will allow for the examination of Caucasian and Asian genetic and lifestyle differences in cancer and the projects' comparison with ICGC esophageal, liver and colorectal cancer projects in France, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

"We believe that more genomic data from Asian cancer patients will augment the work of existing ICGC cancer projects and promote progress toward making cancer a manageable condition," Dr. Huanming Yang of the Chinese Cancer Genome Consortium said in a press release.
